Educators can deduct up to $250 of unreimbursed trade or business expenses, but they must keep receipts to support their claims. Qualified expenses are paid by the taxpayers themselves during the tax year. Examples include professional development course fees; books; supplies; computer equipment, software and services; and other equipment used in the classroom.
